Just a few reminders...a new spelling list is assigned every Monday and the test is on the following Friday. Please practice these words throughout the week. Your child can write the spelling words in sentences, spell them with shaving cream on a table, write them in sand, type them on the computer, or simply have your child say them out loud to you every day while he/she is riding in the car.

Again, we encourage you to help your child to remember to bring his/her AR book back to school every day.  We have a special AR reading time in class that will give your child extra reading practice with the AR book.  We need to have the AR books in class for that AR practice time.  We encourage your child to be testing on his/her AR books at least 3 times a week, unless your child is reading the longer chapter type books and then those may take a couple extra days.  Our testing goal for every student is to be achieving 80% or above on his/her AR tests.  To help your child reach this goal we recommend reading the AR book 3 times and to ask your child who, what, where, when, why, and how questions about the story and about the pictures.  The first graders are doing well and are reading up a storm!  Thank you for all of your help and support. Remember to regularly check on-line how your student is dong in AR. You can even sign up to have your child's AR tests automatically sent directly to your email. Your child and we thank you!
